Betty Fryer


Meet Betty Fryer. Betty is a co-owner of River Place Mercantile. She has been quilting for seventeen years. She got her start through a friend and through her husband’s grandma, who had a passion for quilting. Betty finds inspiration in many different places, including magazines and patterns. After seventeen years, she takes in what she sees and modifies it to make truly special quilts. Her favorite quilt is a Santa wall hanging that goes on her door the entire month of December. The Santa has sparkling blue eyes like her husband, and all her holiday guests and neighbors to get to enjoy his presence all through the Christmas season.

Betty is also a partner in Pieces of My Heart, which is a long-arm quilting service. Betty says that quilting is gaining popularity because it has a historical appeal. “It’s a way to connect the past to the future,” she says.
