Hoopsisters Embroidablock 2010 - TNT  

Our 2009 group made the Crazy Compass quilt by Hoopsisters. We will have a show-and-tell for their quilts on Tuesday, September 21 at 7 pm. Everybody is welcome to come to this event to view the finished quilts. We will launch the 2010 TNT project at the same time. The TNT group will meet monthly for ten months, and we will work on our blocks at our meetings. Let’s get excited about the TNT and make our group a community of happy quilters!

Our meetings will begin in October, and will meet the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm.   

Dakota Collectibles Club

This Club meets once per quarter. Our next meeting will be Saturday, September 11, at 10 am. Pick up your CD a few weeks prior to your meeting date and install the designs on your embroidery machine. You have a choice of projects, since we did not meet in June. Any embroidery machine is welcome. You MUST know how to use it. The cost is $39.95 plus any supplies needed.

Miniature Quilt Club

On the second Thursday of the month, at 7:00 pm, meet with others who share your love of miniature quilts. At each meeting, you will receive your kit and pattern for the next month. Bring in your finished projects for show-and-tell. Choose the kits you love, and skip the ones you don’t. Cost of kits will vary; most are $10. Here again, let’s make our Club a Community of quilters by getting together each month.

Janome Club

You Can Do It!!!  Meets the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm. Learn something new each month. Try something you’ve never done before. Learn tips about threads and fabrics, needles, and more.  We are talking with a possible guest speaker for the September club meeting. $10/month – You can use $5 toward your purchase of featured items on the day of class only.

Bag Ladies Club

The Bag Ladies are a group of women who make purses and bags of all types. They meet the second Tuesday of the month at 10 am and work until they are ready to go home, or until 5, whichever comes first. There is no fee for Bag Ladies Club, but you must purchase your pattern and fabric from River Place. Call to register and to find out what the next project is, and join in this fun-filled day!The

If you cannot make a daytime Bag Ladies Club, please let us know if you would prefer an evening or a Saturday Club. We’ll try to set one up for you.

Felted Wool Club

Felted Wool Club meets the second Friday of the month at 10 am. Projects are made from wool. Cost depends on the project. There is no fee for the club itself. Bring your floss, needles, scissors, and other supplies. 

Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler

Meets first Thursday at 7 pm. Work with others while putting your blocks together. Fabric packs available for blocks. No class fee. 

Beginning Quilting - Learn to use a rotary cutter and piece a nine-patch block. Fee: $30 (kit included). Meet once for two hours. Choose any first Thursday of the month, 3:00-5:00.

Intro to Machine Appliqué - Learn how to appliqué like the pros! Fee: $20 (includes kit). Class meets once for two hours, from 3:00-5:00. Choose September 9 or November 11.

Intro to Paper Piecing - Learn what paper-piecing is all about in a two-hour class that meets once. Choose from the following dates: September 16, 5-7; or November 16, 10-12. Class fee: $25, kit included.

T-Shirt Quilts - You MUST know how to sew; this is NOT a beginner's class. Bring the t-shirts you've been saving, and turn them into a memory quilt your loved ones will treasure! Meets three Wednesdays from 6-9: October 20 and 27, and November 3. Fee: $60.

Advanced  Beginning Quilting - Continue learning by making more advanced blocks, including triangles. Meets once for three hours. Thursday, September 16, 1-3, or Saturday, October 16, 11-1.

Embellishing - Learn to embellish your fabric to make it your own, using the special stitches on your sewing machine. Meets Thursday, October 21, 10-12. Fee: $20.

TextureMagic –

Make this beautiful special occasion purse for yourself or a bride-to-be. Wednesday, October 6, 6:30 pm. Kit including pattern, Texture Magic, and fabric used in store sample available. Class fee $15.

Savanna –

Make this fun quilt using the Curves for Squares ruler by Creative Grids. Class fee of $45 includes pattern and ruler. Tuesday, October 19, 6:30 pm.

Pajama Party Class – For children 9-12. Meets four times. Students will make a pillowcase and a pair of pajama bottoms.  Saturdays, 12 to 4, October 23 and 30, and November 6 and 13. $10 per session.

Teen Fashion Show - Students 13 and up. Make a skirt or pajama bottom. Meets twice. $10 per session. Thursday, October 21 and 28, 6:30 – 8:30 pm.

Claire Cami –

Make this dress or top. Friday, August 20, 11 am, or Friday, August 27, 11 am. $15 class fee. Pattern necessary.

Serger Pillowcase – Beginning serger class. $15. No pattern necessary. Tuesday, November 9, 6:30 pm.

Janome Owners Class Basic – This is free to anybody who purchased their machine from River Place. If purchased elsewhere, fee is $10 per session. Basic class using your sewing machine manual. Monday, September 13, 7 pm.

Janome Owners Class II – This class is free for those of you who purchased higher-end machines from River Place. $10 fee for those who purchased elsewhere. Covers advanced features using manual from your machine.  Monday, October 11, 7 pm.

Janome Owners Class Serger  - This class is free for those of you who purchased your serger from River Place. $10 fee for those who purchased elsewhere. Covers threading machine for different stitches, using your manual. Monday, November 8, 7 pm.

Janome Owners Class Embroidery – This class is free for those of you who purchased your embroidery machine from River Place. $10 fee for those who purchased elsewhere. Learn to love your embroidery machine. Monday, December 13, 7 pm.

Layer Cake Mystery – We will have fun making our mystery quilt on Friday, October 22, from 6-10 pm. Class size limited. Fee $10. Layer cake purchase required.

The Classic Shirt –

Add this “must-have” shirt to your wardrobe. Saturday, December 4, 10 am. Class fee $25. Must purchase pattern.

Free-Motion Quilting – Learn to quilt freehand using a variety of techniques. Fun class. $30 includes supplies. Monday, November 22, 6:30 pm.

Apron – Let’s make an apron to wear during the holidays . . . or maybe to give as a gift! $20 class fee. Thursday, November 18, 6 pm.

Free-standing Lace Ornament -

$30 fee includes embroidery file and supplies. Must specify your machine when registering, along with file extension necessary. Tuesday, November 30, 6:30 pm.

Sampler Quilt – Make nine-patch, flying geese, log cabin, rail fence, and friendship star blocks for this wall hanging. Saturday, October 16, 1 pm. $35 includes pattern.

Hand-Quilting – Learn to piece and quilt the old-fashioned way; by hand. $30. Includes everything you need except a thimble. Tuesday, October 26, 6:30 pm.

Beginning Digitizing – Lecture class showing how digitizing works. If you are considering purchasing a digitizing program, this class is for you. $15. Wednesday, September 15, 6:30 pm.

Needle-turn Appliqué – Everything you need (except a thimble) is provided in this class where you learn the basics of needle-turn appliqué. $25. Wednesday, September 22. 6:30 pm.

Drop-In Monday – Every Monday is drop-in day at River Place. Bring your projects and sew with others. No charge. Come in when the store opens at 10, and stay as long as you want (we close at 5).

Autumn House –

 We will meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 10 am. Class will meet three times; October, November, and December. You will provide your own fabrics. This is a block of the month, so there will be work to complete on your own. Pattern purchase is required. Monthly fee is $10.

Jeans - Make a pair of jeans that fit YOUR body. Classes begin Saturday, September 18, and continue for three to four weeks. Cost is $75. Register early - the first class you meet with the instructor only to make your pattern.

Class Policies: Some of our classes require a book and/or a pattern for participation. Please purchase it, as well as your fabric, before the first day of class. We will give you a 10% discount on the fabric required for your class. The discount must be taken at the time of purchase. Please remind the cashier that you are buying fabric for a class.

For some classes, it will be helpful to cut your fabric prior to coming in. Check the class requirements. Be sure to bring with you to class: basic sewing equipment such as sewing machine and sewing machine manual and accessories, pins, scissors, needles, seam rippers, thread, rotary cutter, mat, rulers, pencils, and notepad, along with a smile and a friendly attitude.

Payment, either in person, by phone with credit card, or online, is due at the time of class enrollment. We will hold places in classes only for those who have paid. Upon receipt of your payment, we will furnish you with the information on requirements for the class.

If you find you cannot attend a class in which you are enrolled, we can give you credit toward another class if you change or cancel at least three days before the first session. Because of the commitment we must make to our teachers, we cannot give credits after that time. If you find at the last minute you cannot attend a class, you might invite a friend to come in your place.

We will make every attempt to hold the class as scheduled. However, there may be times when we must cancel a class. We will cancel the class if only one person registers (at the instructor's discretion). To avoid this type of cancellation, you might ask a friend to take a class with you! If we must cancel a class for any reason, we will refund your class fee.

If you would like us to offer a special class, get two of your friends to take it with you, and we will be happy to work with you.
