We have a lot of exciting things going on at the Mercantile these days. Did you know we have an Open House scheduled for May 15 from 12-4? On that day, we will be celebrating the arrival of the new Janome Horizon 7700 QCP. This machine is beautiful - and it does SO MUCH! It comes with an acrylic extension table. It has the widest bed in its class, shadow-free lighting, built-in single-stitch plate, the accufeed system, more feet than you know what to do with (but I can teach you!), a free-arm, and many new decorative stitches. We're taking orders, and we're taking trade-ins. Come in to see this beauty of a machine - we all "need" it!
Not in the market for a new sewing machine? That's okay. Our Open House has other exciting things to offer. We're having refreshments -- and all BLANK fabric is on sale - 30% off! We will be offering some of our older class samples for sale at very nice prices, also. We'll have door prizes and/or raffles. In fact, we are meeting tonight to decide how the prizes will be given away. I'll bet you can't wait!
Lazy Girl Designs has an exciting new purse pattern that you can pre-order at a discount on our website. The Margo bag is normally $12. Order before our shipment comes in (it's due in early next week!), and you can get this pattern for $9.99.
We have some not-so-exciting news here at the Mercantile, also. Our friend and teacher, Debi, has had to leave us to care for her mom full-time. Please keep Debi and her family in your prayers.
Annette, another of our teachers, has had surgery to remove a tumor from her brain. I just put in a call to see how she is doing, but the last word I had was that she was doing well. We are praying for Annette and her family, also.
Joanne, who has helped out in the store and who led our Felted Wool group, sold her house in St. Clair and moved to Colorado. We are thrilled for Joanne and Chuck, because this is what they both wanted, but we are sad to see them go. Those of you who attend the Felted Wool group can continue to attend. I will lead the group for now, and we will continue to meet on the second Friday of the month. We are changing the time, however, to 10:00. I will be here in plenty of time the first month, in case somebody forgets and shows up at nine. Please let me know if you are coming -- I need to be sure I have enough supplies for everybody. As in the past, there won't be a class fee -- you only pay for your supplies.
Did you make it in last Saturday for the Saturday Sampler? Remember, you must have your block finished, you must bring it with you, and you must come in on the designated Saturday in order to get the next block kit free. Otherwise, your cost is $5 for the kit.
The Mercantile will be closed Monday, May 31 for Memorial Day, but will be OPEN on Sunday, June 6, for the St. Clair Craft Show in the Riverview Plaza.
River Place Mercantile will be CLOSED on Saturday, May 22. We will be vending at the Lansing Area Patchers "For the Love of Quilting" Quilt Show at the Summit, 9410 Davis Highwayi, Dimondale, MI, on Saturday AND Sunday, May 22-23. Please plan to visit the show.
